The Penguins are here!

Although Gentoo penguins and a few Adelies have been spotted on and off in small numbers over the past few months, today the masses moved in! I saw two adelies this morning while munching on breakfast playing on the ice together.... and then about an hour later the pack arrived. A big black mass of penguins fumbled up Torgerson Island, congregated, and a group marched off across the island. A group is marching across the ice now. The binoculars and zoom lenses are out! Once the ice clears I look forwards to boating by and giving the penguins a bit closer of a visit.

To repeat what I posted to my conservation biology professor and mentor's facebook  wall: Penguins are charismatic megafauna for a reason. They are down right entertaining as hell to watch.
